Claude connector
Connect your campaign to Claude
Claude reads every character's full sheet, your prep and the fight in progress, and can save to your prep sheet, NPCs and encounters. Every change can be undone.
Opens Claude's connector settings with DnD Gadgets filled in. If the address isn't filled in, paste it from below.
The connector address
One web address, with a proper sign-in. There's no API key to copy.
https://dndgadgets.com/mcp
Add it to Claude
You need a DnD Gadgets account to allow the connection, so start your trial first if you haven't. Then follow the steps for your plan.
Pro and Max
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors.
- Choose “+”, then Add custom connector.
- Paste the address from above, then choose Add.
- Choose Allow when DnD Gadgets asks.
Team and Enterprise
- An Owner adds it first, under Organization settings → Connectors, using the same address.
- Then each member connects with their own account: Customize → Connectors, choose DnD Gadgets, then Allow.
What Claude can read and save
Nine tools that only look, and three that save. Claude should ask you before it saves anything, and it never touches your parties or character sheets.
Read
Your parties
Every party, its characters and which one is active.
Each character at a glance
Class, level, ancestry, HP, AC, saves, passive Perception and spell DC.
Full character sheets
Abilities, skills, attacks, spells, features and inventory, section by section.
What changed since last level
Each sheet's dated history: level-ups, new items, changed stats.
Your prep sheet
The hook, the beats, the planned fight and the threads still open.
Saved NPCs and more
Your saved NPCs, puzzles, dungeon rooms, improv pins and pinned rules.
Any saved item in full
One NPC, room or pinned monster with all its notes.
The fight in progress
Initiative order, HP, AC, conditions, whose turn it is and the round.
Encounter difficulty
Rates a fight against your party's real levels with the Encounter Builder's numbers.
Save
Save to your prep sheet
Sets the hook and plans, adds beats and threads, and ticks them off. It never deletes one.
Save an NPC
Keeps an NPC you worked out together in your saved NPCs, labelled with the app's name.
Plan an encounter
Puts a fight in the Encounter Builder or the Combat Tracker, rated against your party's real levels.
Tested with Claude.
Ask about your table, not a generic one
Without a connection, an assistant plans for an imaginary party. With it, every answer starts from your characters' actual levels, HP, saves, spells and items.
- “Recap what changed for everyone since we last played.” From each sheet's dated history.
- “Is a young green dragon too much for them?” Rated with the Encounter Builder's numbers against their real levels.
- “Which open threads should come back next week?” From your prep sheet and your other parties.
- “Save that innkeeper as an NPC and add the bell to Friday's prep.” Saved and labelled, so you can undo it.
You
What's changed on Vraxxis since we last played — and are four ogres too much for the party?
Claude
Vraxxis is level 9 now: 122 HP, AC 19, and an attuned Cloak of Protection. The bell thread on your prep sheet is still open. Four ogres against your four level-9 characters rates Easy on the Encounter Builder's numbers — add a hill giant and it's Hard.
You
Save that innkeeper and add the bell to Friday's prep.
Claude
Done: I saved Marta Greywick to your saved NPCs and added “Who rang the bell?” to Friday's beats. Both are marked as added by Claude, and you can undo either from your account page.
Questions
Which Claude plans work?
Plans that support custom connectors: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. On Team and Enterprise, an owner enables it first, then members connect with their own accounts.
Can Claude change my party or sheets?
No. It can only save to your prep sheet, your saved NPCs and your encounters, and it should ask you first. Everything it saves is labelled and can be undone from your account page. It can never change your parties or character sheets.
Do I need a DnD Gadgets subscription?
Yes. The connector is part of the $3.99/month subscription, with a 7-day trial. The free tools on the site don't need one, but Claude can't read your party without it.
How do I disconnect?
From your DnD Gadgets account page, at any time. Claude loses access straight away.
The connector comes with the tools
The Party Manager, Combat Tracker, Encounter Builder, prep sheet and the rest are what Claude reads from — twenty-one tools in one $3.99/month subscription.
